Sweet 16 has been set:

<- Louisville's Russ Smith taken by team Trevino as the first pick has averaged 25 points over the first 2 games of the tournament.  Louisville has # 12 Oregon next this Friday March 29th.

From a tournament standpoint, the following leagues are represented in the Sweet 16.

* note there are no teams from the Mountain West Conference, the supposedly toughest conference in the nation this year, go figure !

Big 10 - 4 (Indiana, Michigan State, Ohio State, Michigan)

Big East - 3 (Louisville, Marquette, Syracuse)

ACC - 2 (Duke, Miami (Fl)

PAC 12 - 2 (Arizona, Oregon)

SEC - 1 (Florida)

ATL 10 - 1  (LaSalle)

Atlantic Sun 1 - (Flrodia Gulf Coast)

Big 12 1 - (Kansas)

Missouri Valley 1 - (Wichita State)

Current year:

This upcoming weekend will make or break many of the teams that drafted this year.   It is very close as less than 62 points separate first place from eighth place so far in our draft game.  Current leader after the 1st couple of games is the Trevino team of Ralph, Nick & Sam with 518 points.  Ralph's team has 10 players left in the tournament.   Right behind Trevino is defending champ Rob Stenzel who is 24 points out but has 4 more players left in the tournament (14).  The Noffke team of Mark & Steve and Bruce Martin are only 28 points away from #1 but I have them falling to 4th after the Sweet 16 with the Keuper team (Kevin Keuper & Dave Eccles) moving into 3rd place by Saturday.

# 1 Gonzaga looked a little shaky in their opening game and ended up dropping their second round game to Wichita State which probably messed up a few brackets as well as our draft game strategy.  We still have three # 1 teams remaining and they all look very strong.

Last year there was some upsets in the opening rounds as well and 15 picks out of the top 40 were gone after the first 2 games.  This year only 8 picks have been lost due to upsets.

The matchups for this weekend has been prepared and if you go to the Sweet 16 Matchups tab, you can retrieve a copy of the Thursday and Friday game matchups or click here for the pdf file.
